The middle school students have been learning about American history. They each choose a member of the constitutional convention to study. Their final assessment of the activity was to be interviewed as their delegate and answer several questions that they covered in their research. Here is just a short clip of the students introducing themselves.

Many of the lower elementary students were utilizing the ipad card and doing research and exploration using our online WorldBook resource this week. We have subscribed to Early World of Learning, Kids, Student, Discover, Timelines and Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos for students to use on the computers and ipads at school and at home.
The fourth and fifth grade students enjoyed creating frame by frame animations using PowerPoint and Windows Movie Maker. The third grade students celebrated the beginning of spring by choosing spring picture png files on the internet that did not have a background. They practiced saving, retrieving, and pasting them into a paint document and then had fun getting creative and making their pictures colorful using a variety of drawing tools. Each of the middle school students spent quite a bit of time researching their area of China. Then they created a script for a travel commercial. After filming themselves on the green screen they added the editing. We still have some kinks to work out and next time we will have the new tripod we just ordered. But good job middle schoolers!
3rd - 5th Grade: Scratch: Animating Your Name All the 3rd grade students and all the 4th and 5th grade students worked on a Step-by-step guide on how to Animate your name. Most of the students finished by the second class period. They created some really cool projects. Please ask them to show you as they each have their own scratch account set up. Third Grade Examples
Fourth Grade Examples Fifth Grade Examples The middle school students created podcasts featuring current events. After researching and finding an interesting article they created a script and choose a format to record their podcast: audio, video or animation. Students had fun being creative and kooky and enjoyed sharing their current events with their peers. Here are a couple of clips from the day we shared the podcasts. Third grade spent time discussing and learning about cybersafety. We used the "Young Kids" and "Kids" sections of http://www.cybersmart.gov.au/ as a resource. The students had a lot of offer to our discussion and at the end of the two part lesson, they created posters highlighting the most important facts they learned.
