The first, second and fourth grade students have been working hard on their portfolios this week. It is exciting and interesting to see the progression of skills the students exhibit from grade to grade. In first grade, the children worked on inserting photos and text boxes and received help adding hyperlinks to their writing samples. The second graders did the same, but most of them attempted inserting hyperlinks to their pdf writing pieces with limited help. The fourth graders were able to follow a list of directions and add several slides, inserting pictures, hyperlinks and text and work on designing an individual look for their portfolio. We look forward to showing off all our hard work on Portfolio Day!

The third graders spent some time this week in the Technology Lab researching rocks and minerals. They gathered and wrote 5 “Fast Facts” each from a different website they visited. One of the favorite websites was http://www.msha.gov/KIDS/MINING.HTM. Students were able to click on each state and find out what is mined there. In all, the students had 21 different sites to visit and research. New Zone Clubs have started. Robotics meets on Tuesdays after lunch in the Tech Lab. The students were just getting familiar with the materials and the basic programing this week. They all successfully followed steps to create some simple robots and then experimented with programing their movements. Check out the short videos to see some of their work. |
