The third graders integrated technology into their graphing unit of study. 1st & 2nd Tech Class Periods: First, working in pairs, students created a survey question and followed directions to input that question into Surveymonkey.com. When they were finished Mrs. Gamache posted each group’s poll on the tech lab website and encouraged many of the other classes to answer the survey. 3rd Tech Class Period: Students used a graphing program online to enter the data from their surveys and create and save a bar or pie graph. 4th Tech Class Period: Students divided a large box of Lucky Charms and tallied each type of charm they had. We then compiled all the data. 5th Tech Class Period: Students used the online graphing program and created one or two graphs with the Lucky Charm data. 6th Tech Class Period:
Students compared their class data to the data from another class in New Jersey, chatting with that class via Skype. We also learned more about each of our states and activities that we like to do. It was a fun wrap up to the project.
