This week four students went to the state capitol to represent the school at the AT&T/MACUL/MVU Student Technology Showcase at the Capitol. Students presented their recent Cars that Go STEM unit to lawmakers and visitors. The presenters explained the experiments our youngest k-2 students did while they learned about friction, gravity, force and inertia. They showed the balloon powered cars the 3&4th middle grade students researched and built. They demonstrated the rubber band and mousetrap powered cars that they developed during the project along with the rest of the 5th - 8th graders. The students had an opportunity to meet with Representative Brad Jacobsen and show him this hands-on STEM experience.

The middle school students have been working on creating two quilt squares representing a US state and a Canadian province or territory. Look for QR codes on the quilt next week taking you to each student's blog post describing their project.
