The middle school students were given the challenge to create and build a toy or game with moving parts. They are diving into the challenge.
The 5th grade students are in the midst of their Engineer a Box project. It's fun to see the creative minds tackling the task!
This week we moved from part one of our project to part two. In this task, the students research simple ways to mechanically move a figure, using links found here. Now they are creating the crank mechanism to manually move a figure. We are using paper plates, paper clips, pliers, scissors and tape for this part of the project. So far, everyone has a working crank. The students are very excited they have moving parts! Next time we will create a moving character.
The fourth graders created cardboard figures using the Engineering Design Process. They researched using links provided here and then using only a paper plate, pencil and scissors, created a figure that could stand. Then they looked at how they could improve their figure and created a new one that worked even better. |
