"It's the most interesting field trip I've ever been. We are not the audience!" -Luca A handful of third grade students were invited to present their "MakeyMakey Scratch Game Control Challenge" during the state MACUL Teachers and Technology conference at Cobo Arena today.

Students have tested their game controllers and are working on explaining how they work.
Third grade students worked in pairs to build a circuit to light up multiple lights. Items used included tin foil, snippets of Christmas lights, a brass fastener, wire and a battery. It took some fine motor skills and problem solving to accomplish the task. Be sure to visit the 3rd grade room on Science Night.
The third grade students worked on identifying and recording objects around their room that would either conduct electricity or insulate electricity. They used a Christmas light bulb and a battery and tested the object in between. They were surprised that some metals do not conduct electricity.
The third graders have been working with circuits along with their makeymakey project. To go along with some of our electricity experiments we added a little chemistry and lit up a pickle. We're still discussing why and how...and will have more to come. The third graders were amazing that by holding hands the whole class could complete a circuit and make our the space bar work using our MakeyMakey unit. Next we will we testing materials to see how conductive they are as we begin our next big project.
